Euron Greyjoy, the Crow's Eye, is the most dangerous and unpredictable of Lord Balon Greyjoy's surviving brothers. Identity and Rise to Power
Euron is the second son of Lord Quellon Greyjoy, younger than Balon but older than Victarion and Aeron. He was exiled by Balon for unknown crimes—rumored to include the seduction or rape of his brother's wife—and spent years sailing the world, raiding from Qarth to the Smoking Sea, and consorting with warlocks, priests, and other dark powers. He returned to the Iron Islands after Balon's death, just in time for the kingsmoot called by his brother Aeron. At the kingsmoot on Old Wyk, Euron presented a dragon horn, a twisted, six-foot-long black horn banded with red gold and Valyrian steel, which he claimed to have found in the ruins of Valyria. When a monstrous thrall blew the horn, the sound burned the man alive from within, but the captains and kings were awed. Euron was crowned King of the Iron Islands, defeating his niece Asha and his brother Victarion. He then married Asha to Erik Ironmaker to neutralize her claim and secure the isles in his absence.
Rule and Ambitions
